This past weekend was action-packed for Roots Gymnasium’s sports stars, and once again, our teams showed that hard work, heart, and team spirit always pay off!

Rugby Roars to Victory

The unstoppable U/8 rugby team, affectionately known as the Rowwe Ratels, proved their grit and growing dominance under the steady guidance of Coach Johan. Competing at Windhoek Gymnasium’s Sports Day on Saturday, 26 July, the young Ratels stormed through the competition, winning four out of their five matches. It seems this team is officially on a winning streak, and we can’t wait to see how far they’ll go!

Meanwhile, the U/19 rugby boys delivered a thrilling performance on home soil against KPS. Despite trailing 6–0 in the first 25 minutes, our senior boys regrouped with confidence and turned the tide, storming ahead to a phenomenal 73–20 victory.

Netball Stars Stand Tall

Our U/8 and U/9 netball teams took to the courts at Windhoek Gymnasium’s Sports Day and showcased fantastic energy and team spirit.

  • Coach Karin’s U/8 team walked away with 3 wins and 3 close losses.

Coach Helen-Mari’s U/9s delivered a well-rounded performance with 2 wins, 1 draw, and only 1 loss.

In senior netball action, our U/15 girls, led by Coach Leandri, represented Roots at the NSSU Super League match hosted by WHS. They emerged victorious in their league game against Pro-Ed, and although they lost the follow-up friendly against the host school, their attitude and skill left a lasting impression.
