From the shores of Hardap Dam to the national spotlight, Rootie siblings S-Wee and Lee-Ancka Loubser proved that dedication, patience, and passion can hook more than just fish; they reel in recognition too!
Representing Namibia at the Region 5 Angling Tournament hosted by the Namibia Freshwater Bank Angling Association (NFBAA) from 30 June to 5 July 2025, the Loubser siblings showed exceptional skill and sportsmanship.
S-Wee Loubser, competing as part of the U/13 Development Team, helped secure a thrilling victory over South Africa. Namibia landed 187 fish weighing in at 430.5 kg, narrowly surpassing the RSA team’s 180 fish at 422.36 kg. For his efforts, S-Wee was awarded a silver medal... a fantastic achievement at this level!

Meanwhile, Lee-Ancka Loubser represented the Junior Team, who fought hard but narrowly missed the top spot, finishing second to a strong South African team. Despite the result, her performance was admirable, and her passion for angling continues to grow.

These two talented Rooties are steadily casting their way toward greatness. With such drive and commitment, there’s no doubt that their angling journey is just getting started.
Congratulations, S-Wee and Lee-Ancka! The entire Roots Gymnasium community is incredibly proud of you. Keep your lines strong and your goals even stronger. We can’t wait to see where your journey leads next.
