Dirkie and Arno Rossouw showcased perseverance and horsemanship over the weekend of 20 June 2025 at the endurance ride hosted by the Kalahari Uithouritklub at Auob Lodge, Gochas.

Both young riders completed their respective distances with impressive results. Dirkie claimed 1st place in the 80km Junior Division, while Arno not only secured 1st place in the 100km Child Division, but also received the desired Best Conditioned Horse award. This is a remarkable recognition awarded only to riders whose horses meet strict criteria for post-ride health, presentation, and well-being. Earning this award demonstrates Arno’s deep dedication to the care of his horse, Que Pasa Salto, prioritising the animal’s condition even in the face of competition.

Dirkie competed on his horse, Morenga, and both brothers are now shifting focus to their next big challenge: the Namibian Endurance Championships, set to take place in Swakopmund during the last week of August. They will each compete over a brutal 120km distance, where Namibia's top riders will go head-to-head for the national title.

We are incredibly proud of Dirkie and Arno for their commitment, discipline, and sportsmanship. Best of luck as you prepare for the championships. Roots Gymnasium is behind you all the way!
