New Boarding Parents at Roots Gymnasium

Roots Gymnasium is excited to introduce two very special people who now form part of our extended school family — Jacques and Sunita du Toit from Aranos, our new boarding parents.
With their deep love for the farm life and a heart for young people, Jacques and Sunita bring warmth, structure, and a sense of home to the Roots hostel. Their approach is rooted in care, connection, and community, ensuring that every boarder feels safe, seen, and supported.
“The daily interaction with the children is so special and rewarding,” shares Jacques. For him, the highlight of each week is the return of learners on Sunday evenings. “There’s a unique energy when the children return. Their presence brings life to the halls again.”
Sunita, who naturally steps into many roles, reflects on the journey with heartfelt gratitude:
“It’s an absolute privilege to fill the role of mother, doctor, advisor, and nurturer.”From late-night chats to quiet moments of comfort, her presence offers the Rooties a soft place to land, far from home.
The du Toits also have exciting plans for the future of hostel life at Roots- ideas aimed at strengthening the sense of community, discipline, and joy among our boarders.
When they're not guiding young lives, Jacques finds peace in the vast Kalahari landscapes and enjoys the thrill of hunting, while Sunita tends to her happy place, the garden, surrounded by flowers and blooms. They are also parents to

We’re truly grateful to have this inspiring couple at the heart of our hostel. Welcome to the Roots family, Jacques and Sunita!
